Release Plan and Objectives
TopBraid 4.6 includes the initial release of an exciting new product TopBraid Reference Data Manager (TopBraid RDM). Built on the mature and proven platform underlying TopBraid EVN, TopBraid RDM is designed to help organizations bring consistency and accuracy to reference data management and use. It simplifies the management and distribution of reference data within organizations with a simple point-and-click, forms-based interface. With TopBraid RDM governance over reference data storage and distribution is easily enhanced with the addition of relevant and easily accessible metadata.
TopBraid 4.6 also continues to enhance and extend the collaboration, metadata representation, change management and search capabilities and configuration options of TopBraid EVN. This release also offers incremental improvements to TopBraid Composer and TopBraid application development technologies – SPIN, SPARQLMotion, SPARQL Web Pages (SWP) and SPARQL Web Pages Application Components (SWA).
Key Improvements of 4.6
TopBraid Enterprise Vocabulary Net (EVN)
- Improved UI / Navigation
- Navigation pages have been redesigned using tabs and more icons.
- Class/property trees now show imported (included) classes/properties with greyish icons (like TopBraid Composer).
- Enhanced Collaboration, Knowledge Capture and Change Tracking
- Ability to capture vocabulary metadata beyond just the name and description. By default four fields are available; additional fields can be added as required.
- Added ability to record usage of vocabularies in external systems.
- Multiple enhancements for importing vocabularies from spreadsheets, including that the output of the spreadsheet importer (using pattern) can now be saved and reused as template.
- “Show History” mode now shows more details about changes committed to production from a working copy.
- Teamwork TCH graphs now keep track of the most recent change, using the property teamwork:lastChange. This information is now displayed in the summary views of EVN vocabularies.
- Improved Configurability
- Ontologies now have a flag to be in no-instances mode, only allowing classes and properties.
- Clearing a vocabulary is now considerably faster, and recorded in the change history.
- Server configuration now allows activation of a mode in which a SPIN constraint violation blocks editing (that is, it disallows hitting OK to overrule the violation).
- Search Enhancements
- Search form offers the ability to select properties of the nested (related) resources to be shown as columns in the search results.
- Ability to search and browse for vocabularies based on their metadata.
- Saved searches will now show up as available exports with a choice to get a downloadable spreadsheet, XML or JSON file of the results.
TopBraid Insight (TBI)
- Enhanced Mapping
- Added support for mapping related source classes to single target class.
- Added support for conditional mapping.
- Comprehensive restructuring of LinkMap definition and linking algorithms.

- Enterprise readiness
- D2RQ import wizard now allows selection of properties to be included in instance URIs.
- D2RQ import wizard now provides a switch to allow link entities to be processed as classes instead of as object properties.
- “Find References” and “Find usages in Workspace” now also detect references in sp:text strings.
- Enhanced spreadsheet import functionality.
- Multiple new options and modules added to SPIN and SPARQL functions – for more detail see changes-4.6.0.txt
